Scoring weights team and PMF most heavily, consistent with institutional VC evaluation frameworks.
This scoring framework is modelled on how institutional venture capital firms evaluate early-stage investments. Team and product-market fit carry the highest weights because decades of venture data show these are the strongest predictors of startup success.
Rate each factor based on evidence, not optimism. Team scores should reflect relevant experience and track record. Market size should be grounded in bottoms-up analysis, not top-down TAM projections. Traction should reflect paying customers or validated demand, not just user signups.
A score below 50 does not mean the company is unfundable; it means there are specific areas that need strengthening before approaching institutional investors. Many successful companies scored poorly in some categories at early stages but had one or two factors that were exceptionally strong.
